Position Summary

The Production Manager is involved in and responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing process, including but not limited to: production planning, quality performance, process improvements, and all key performance indicators related to the area managed. The Production Manager uses their people skills to motivate and inspires all members of the Production team.

This position reports to the Plant Manager.

According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:

Exempt, based on the Professional exemption.

What You’ll Be Doing

Determine staffing requirements
Set employee goals and objectives. Develop employees to meet those objectives.
Monitor and review performance daily to ensure productivity goals are met. Coach employees to improve productivity while maintaining a positive work environment and organize necessary corrective action for improvement as needed.
Ensure employees are effectively trained.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to employees as needed.
Work closely with employees and support staff to resolve customer problems
Responsible for ensuring product meets company quality standards. Maintains and improves quality levels.
Effectively communicates company and plant information with employees.
Determine and implement improvements in the production process using Lean and 5 S practices.
Develop and implement solutions to manage and reduce production costs.
Plan, lead, and implement Kaizen activities throughout the plant.
Problem solves employee and equipment related issues.
Encourage and promote an atmosphere in which employees feel comfortable offering suggestions for improvement.
Ensure adherence to OSHA and safety regulations.
Ensure efficient and effective collaboration and communication with Production Analyst.
Open and close the facility when necessary.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in operations or related field or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
3+ years supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment
2-5 years experience applying training in leadership
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment
Knowledge of business and leadership principles and practices
Knowledge of strategic planning
Reasoning skills to make decisions related to safety
Ensure that all members are treated with dignity and respect
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, specifically using Pivot Tables

Preferred

Formal training in Business Improvement program
Experience in PCBA manufacturing process
Involvement in formal business Quality Programs

Supervisory Responsibilities

Approximately 30 employees
